Even for shamed fabulist and ousted lawmaker George Santos — his pitch was rich.
The feds busted a Texas man reportedly trying to dupe former Rep. George Santos (R-NY) as well convicted actor Danny Masterson and others of being able to make incriminating materials go away and the rap on them dropped.
Hector Medina, Jr., allegedly took the name "Michael Soto" when he corresponded with his suspected marks.

He was brought into custody in El Paso, Texas, on Wednesday and expected to face wire fraud charges in Brooklyn federal court.
If convicted he could be sent away for up to 20 years.
Medina stands accused of trying to take his targets for large sums of cash by making false claims he could perform some shadowy work to eliminate evidence.
Medina allegedly confessed to FBI investigators in an interview what he sought out individuals “who were, or whose family members were, facing criminal exposure" and offered his services that "could cause their criminal exposure to disappear in exchange for large sums of money.”
“I work with prosecutors and, uh, judges throughout the United States and I want to give you the opportunity to offer my services," reads the text from a video Medina allegedly sent to "Individual-1" followed up with text messages, according to the affidavit. "I was contacted by some people to reach out to you and see if you wanted to cut a deal. Uh, this only stands for today. If you’re interested, I can get everything dropped, evidence that is on you removed, disappeared. Reach out to me if you’re interested. It’s simple yes or no. Thank you.”
The victim "Individual-1" is unnamed, but later detailed as formerly representing New York’s 3rd Congressional District and facing criminal charges.
In the suspected effort to bilk Santos, Medina allegedly requested "$900k."
In a response to CNN, Medina's attorney Joseph Veith said his client "eagerly anticipates confronting the allegations against him through the formal legal process."
Medina is also accused of employing the same or similar tactics to shakedown a “publicly known” actor for $1 million.
The actor was described as being convicted of felonies in California in 2023 (identified by The New York Post as Danny Masterson), as well as an arrested musician (Individual-3) arrested, and a pro athlete (Individual-4), too.
