Rep. George Santos has been expelled from the House of Representatives in an overwhelming vote with more than 300 members voting to give him the boot.
While there had been some momentum in Santos' favor after the entire House Republican leadership came out against his expulsion, that apparently wasn't enough to rescue him from the ire of more than 100 of his other GOP colleagues.
In the end, the vote wasn't close, as 311 members voted in favor of Santos' expulsion, 21 more than the 290 votes needed to reach the two-thirds majority threshold.
After the vote, Santos refused to answer questions from reporters and rushed into a car that subsequently sped him away.
Santos came under fire shortly after being elected last year when multiple reports revealed that he fabricated entire parts of his life story, including his academic career, his work history, and even his claims of Jewish heritage.
Santos has since been criminally charged with counts ranging from wire fraud, money laundering, making false statements to Congress, and theft of public funds.
