Georgia lawmaker moves to hobble women's rights because mother of his adopted child 'contemplated abortion'

A Georgia lawmaker revealed over the weekend that he wants to limit the reproductive rights of women because the mother of his adopted child had considered terminating her pregnancy.

In an interview with WSB-TV, Republican state Sen. Bruce Thompson explained that he had introduced a bill to ban abortion at six weeks to prevent potential mothers from having the procedure.

According to the station, Thompson is pushing to turn back the clock on a woman's right to choose because the birth mother of one of his adopted children "contemplated abortion" but did not have one.

"For our family, for me, the pro-life stance is not just a conservative movement," Thompson told WSB-TV. "We see it through our children and giving them an opportunity in America to be able to thrive and then invest in other people's lives."
