Father of suspected Georgia school shooter arrested and faces murder charges: officials

The father of the suspected shooter who gunned down two classmates and two teachers in Georgia this week has been arrested, authorities said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations wrote on X that Collin Gray, father of the 14-year-old suspected gunman Colt Gray, faces four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder and eight counts of cruelty to children in connection with the shooting at Apalachee High School.

The news comes after CNN reported on air Thursday that Collin Gray told investigators he bought his son an AR-15 for Christmas, the weapon later used in the mass shooting.

The report comes after news emerged that Marcee Gray, the suspected shooter's mother, had a lengthy criminal record dating back more than two decades in four counties.

She faced prosecution on allegations of domestic violence, drug possession, property damage and traffic violations in Barrow, Fulton and Forsyth counties, and also faced civil fraud charges related to a vehicle purchase.
