The solution to Rudy Giuliani's money problems may be one he cannot accept, as it involves suing his former client, and president, Donald Trump, according to a new report.
The Committee of Unsecured Creditors, a group that represents people trying to recover cash from the former New York City mayor, is reportedly “discussing” demanding Giuliani sue Trump over old debts, a source close to the matter told The Independent.
The committee could use bankruptcy court to coax Guiliani to sue Trump's campaign and the Republican National Convention, according to the report.
Giuliani, who filed for bankruptcy after two Georgia poll workers successfully sued him for defamation, appeared in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court early last month and noted the 2020 election campaign and the RNC were in arrears of $2 million in unpaid legal fees.
Giuliani claimed that while some legal expenses were remitted he “never got a salary.”
“Once I took over, it was my understanding that I would be paid by the campaign for my legal work and my expenses would be paid,” he told the hearing. “When we submitted the invoice for payment, they just paid the expenses. Not all, but most of the expenses.
"They never paid the [legal fees].”
Giuliani was forced into the process after a jury in Georgia ordered him to pay $148 million for defaming a mother and her daughter who sued him for defaming them when they served as election workers back in 2020.
Ted Goodman, a Giuliani political advisor, assured The Independent that Giuliani "will not be suing President Trump."
Beyond the nearly $150 million sum he's being forced to pay, America's Mayor also has been sued and being pursued by creditors from more than a dozen other parties, including the IRS, city agencies, Dominion Voting Systems, Hunter Biden, and Noelle Dunphy, an ex-employee claiming sexual assault.
