A GOP strategist on Saturday flagged a key detail about a MAGA lawmaker's recent resignation that he says should "give a lot of Republicans pause."
Brendan Buck, a former key adviser to ex-House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), appeared on MS NOW over the weekend, and was asked about MAGA lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene's decision not to run for another term in office. The host specifically asked Buck, "What is goingthrough Speaker Mike Johnson'smind right now?" and noted, "A prominentmember of your party openlysaying Republicans will losethe midterms. That has got tobe a blow."
Buck replied, "I mean, I think on one hand,he's probably not sad to see Marjorie Taylor Greene go. She has been atrouble for him," before adding, "You pickedout the thing that stuck out tome most as well: she said the House is going to go to Democrats next year."
He then added, "I mean, that's a remarkable thing to besaying."
"Now, you know, that'sprobably right. But to be ableto just openly say that, what'sthe point of sticking around?I'm going to be in the minority.I'm not going to have anyauthority. Yeah, that thatshould give I think a lot of Republicans pause about whatthey're doing right now, thedirection that they're headed," Buck said. "Things have not been goingtheir way lately. And I thinkit'd be very hard for people toto deny it."
