The GOP is secretly funding anti-Trump Republicans — right under his nose

President Donald Trump has waged a war against Republicans that have opposed him, voted for impeachment, support any major Democratic bills and that approved of the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Right under Trump's nose, however, the Republican Party election committees are funding those same Republicans.

The Daily Beast revealed campaign finance records that show that "63 of the 139 House Republicans who objected to the election results have given more than $650,000 to GOP counterparts who certified Trump's defeat." The report even shows that Republicans who voted to impeach Trump for the Jan. 6 insurrection got more than $100,000 from the GOP committees.

"More than $200,000 of the total came from House leadership—Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY)," the report said. The cash came even as the Republicans voted to get rid of Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) from their leadership.

The three in leadership voted not to impeach Trump for Jan. 6 and they also all opposed accepting the results of the 2020 election. Still, when it comes to dolling out cash to colleagues from their leadership political action committees, they evidently see no conflict.

Ironically, the largest donor of the leadership was Scalise, who gave $139,000 in donations to McCarthy's $40,000. Outside of their named committees, the members' super PACs have been sending out buckets of cash. McCarthy's Take Back the House 2022 PAC gave out $1.5 million to the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Donald Trump.

The report also notes that almost every Republican has made contributions to the National Republican Congressional Committee, which gives out money to vulnerable incumbent Republicans regardless of their support for Trump or any other position.

The news comes just days after it was revealed that Trump left the White House claiming that he would start his own party to oppose the GOP. The information comes from ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl, who wrote in his upcoming book that Trump was enraged at the lack of support he got among GOP members.

"Donald Trump was in no mood for small talk or nostalgic goodbyes," Karl adds. "He got right to the point. He told her he was leaving the Republican Party and would be creating his own political party. The president's son, Donald Trump Jr., was also on the phone. The younger Trump had been relentlessly denigrating the RNC for being insufficiently loyal to Trump. In fact, at the January 6 rally before the Capitol Riot, the younger Trump all but declared that the old Republican Party didn't exist anymore."

Romney-McDaniel told Trump that the GOP would be done, and Trump said he didn't care. Republicans threatened him that they wouldn't pay his legal bills and destroy his email list, though it's unclear how. The email list is said to be worth $100 million and Trump has managed to raise hefty sums since leaving office.
