GOP ‘has no business weighing in’ on Rep. Omar until Trump’s anti-Semitism is addressed: Former Clinton strategist

Jess McIntosh, former director of communications outreach for Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, told CNN on Monday that until Republicans faced up to and rejected President Donald Trump's racism, they had no right to criticize Minnesota Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar's remarks about AIPAC.

"I think it's really important not be glib about stereotypes that have been used to demonize and oppress and murder minorities," McIntosh was quick to say about Omar's remarks. "I think her apology was really thoughtful."

"Where I need to draw the line is Republicans saying she needs to be removed from positions of leadership," she continued. "The president literally looked at a group of Nazis and said they were made up of 'some very fine people.'"

McIntosh said that the GOP wasn't yet "willing to address violent anti-semitism," and hammered the point home with statistics.

"The ADL put out a study saying that every single extremist murder that happened in 2018 was right wing extremism," she said. "That is spurred on by the president, and until the Republican Party is willing to address that very real threat, they have no business weighing in on this."
