'I'm going to cockblock Delaware,' GOP Rep. promises Colbert
November 10, 2009
After being informed by Delaware Rep. Mike Castle that he wasn't a Democrat, Colbert mocked that talking to a rare "moderate northeast Republican" is like interviewing a panda.
After Colbert asked Castle when he would "stop asking Dela-where" and "start asking Dela-why," a reference to college football names led to the following double entendre exchange.
Colbert asked, "Does Delaware still have fighting cocks?"
"There are some fighting cocks," Castle admitted. "It is illegal in Delaware, as it is in other places."
After winking, Colbert agreed that it was technically illegal in nearly every state, then he told the congressman, "Now, I'm something of a cock enthusiast. Are you?"
But Castle wouldn't bite: "Not really, no. It's part of the history of Delaware but I have no interest in bringing it back."
After a few more back-and-forths, Colbert straight out said, "So you are going to cockblock Delaware."
"I'm going to cockblock Delaware," the Republican lawmaker promised.
Later in the interview, the two discuss the pros and cons of marrying chickens.
