GOP strategist tells MSNBC: Trump is pouring gasoline on women’s explosive anger over Kavanaugh
October 04, 2018
GOP strategist Noelle Nikpour told MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle that the president's refusal to stop talking about how badly Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh has been treated is making women angry -- and the verbally abusive president is only making things worse for his party
With Democrats expected to make gains in both the Senate and the House, Ruhle asked Nikpour, "has the president's abusive behavior been a positive?" Nikpour did not hold back.
"No," she said flatly. "Especially when we got the news breaking tweet this morning, I was just like, 'oh, God' you know. Just don't exacerbate the situation. Leave it alone."
Nikpour ridiculed Trump's attacks on Kavanaugh's accusers, comparing him to an arsonist.
"It's like there's flames and flames, and 'here's a fire, I'm going to pour gasoline on it.' Leave the subject alone," she said, seeming to speak to the president himself.
Nikpor also saw trouble ahead for her party as a result of the president's intemperate language. "I really think this is so sensitive in so many different ways," she said. "You've got a Supreme Court, which is one of the most highest, most respected positions at risk. You have the women's movement. You have the Me Too movement. You have women voters. You have the midterms."
