The National Park Services (NPS) has removed a prominent photo of Black abolitionist Harriet Tubman from its Underground Railroad webpage after President Donald Trump's executive order abolishing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies.
According to a snapshot of the webpage saved by Archive.org, the reference to Tubman was removed as early as March 25. It had been replaced with a smaller Tubman photo that included white abolitionists Catherine Coffin and Thomas Garrett.
"I was the conductor of the Underground Railroad for eight years, and I can say what most conductors can't say — I never ran my train off the track and I never lost a passenger," a quote from Tubman said on the original webpage.
That quote had also been removed.

Instead, the new webpage pointed out that the Underground Railroad "bridged the divides of race, religion, sectional differences, and nationality."
The NPS and the Trump administration declined requests for comment from The Hill.
