Here's how much cheaper it cost to deliver the British royal baby compared to the average American baby

The British Royal family got a little larger yesterday, as The Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to her third child, an as-yet-unnamed baby boy.

The child was delivered at the private The Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in London at 11 am and the family was strapped into the royal Range Rover and driven home by the close of the business day.

How much did it cost British taxpayers to bring the fifth-heir to the throne into the world? About $8,900.

That's actually less than the average American birth, as an old man from Vermont pointed out on Twitter.

The inefficient American healthcare system means it costs more than $10,000 to give birth in a hospital on average.

And keep in mind that in the exclusive private wing of the hospital where Middleton gave birth there are complimentary champagne toasts to go with the gourmet food.

There were some other bells and whistles, such as the baby's birth being announced by a Town Crier, but the town crier is a random man who appointed himself and not a royal employee and this taxpayers bore no cost.
