House Dems to vote on holding Bill Barr in contempt of Congress on Wednesday

The House Judiciary Committee is set to vote on whether to hold Attorney General Bill Barr in contempt of Congress on Wednesday, CNN's Manu Raju reports.

The vote comes after Barr missed yet another congressional deadline to hand over special counsel Robert Mueller's full, unredacted report to Congress.

"The vote to hold Barr in contempt marks the first time that House Democrats are moving to punish a Trump administration official for defying a congressional subpoena and represents a dramatic escalation in tensions between Democrats and the White House," Raju notes.

Last month, the Judiciary Committee subpoenaed the full Mueller report, as well as underlying evidence used in the case. So far, however, the Department of Justice has no complied with the committee's requests and has ignored counteroffers made by House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY).
