Despite some initial drama, House Republicans passed their budget framework on Tuesday following hours of dramatic vote-wrangling that came down to a handful of final holdouts.
The GOP suffered a short-lived and unexpected blow on Tuesday as they were forced to withdraw a vote on the House budget resolution, which was meant simply to unlock debate on how to pass President Donald Trump's planned tax and spending cuts.
However, within minutes, after the holdout votes fielded calls, the resolution was put back on the floor for another vote, forcing everyone to return to the chamber after previously having been told there would be no more votes this evening.

On the second vote, Rep. Warren Davidson (R-OH) flipped his vote to yes, followed by Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN), who had previously insisted she was a "hard no." Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN), a pro-Trump lawmaker who spent the last day "praying" over whether to back the resolution to move forward, initially appeared to sit out rather than cast a vote, before flipping from a no to a yes, according to reporters.
Thomas Massie (R-KY) remained the lone holdout.
Reporter Jake Sherman called it a "BIG BIG win" for Speaker Mike Johnson on X.
The Senate passed its own budget framework last week. Republicans in the two chambers now have to reconcile their differences between their blueprints.
