GOP lawmakers' complaints about leaks leaked to congressional reporter
January 17, 2024
The House of Representatives is back in session and there already appears to be turmoil and infighting.
Punchbowl News reporter Jake Sherman brings word that Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT) ranted during a Republican House conference meeting on Wednesday about "coward" leakers who were airing out dirty laundry to reporters and vowed to expose and shame whoever was responsible.
Of course, Owens' comments about leakers were quickly leaked to Sherman, so it appears that the Utah Republican is no closer to finding the culprit.

Elsewhere at the meeting, Sherman reports that Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) once again got into it with members of the House Freedom Caucus who are upset with the deal that he struck with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to keep the government funded and avert a shutdown.
When House Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good (R-VA) pressed Johnson on the matter, the speaker reportedly turned to Good and asked him how he would propose getting out of a shutdown in which Republicans would take all the political damage.
Good, according to Sherman, did not have an answer to that particular question.
