GOP can 'elect Satan' as speaker if it stops 'communist' Dems: Republican C-SPAN caller

A caller on C-SPAN's Republican line said she would support Satan as speaker of the House if it stopped "communist" Democrats from taking power.

After Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) lost his second vote to become speaker on Wednesday, C-SPAN's Pedro Echevarria took calls about the battle for control of the House.

A New York caller named Lois accused Democrats of being "lemmings" because they all voted for Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).

"Okay, now, while I'm not happy about the vote taking so long, I do support Jim Jordan over Jeffries because Jeffries is a communist," the caller said.

Echevarria noted that Republicans had been unable to elect a speaker.

"Is the issue with them?" he wondered.

"Uh, yes, but it also shows that they're quite capable of independent thinking," the caller replied. "Okay, now I don't care if they elect Satan. Jeffries is a communist."

"And while they have very negative things to say about Republican voters, for me, I find Democrats high-functioning morons," she added.
