Houston mosquegoers criticize 'No Muslim Parking' signs near services

Members of a Houston mosque felt targeted by signs posted outside their gathering place reading, "No Muslim parking" at a nearby mall, KPRC-TV reported on Friday.

"I feel sorry for the person who wrote it," one mosquegoer, Ahmed Hassan, told KPRC. "This is what comes to mind because obviously he has a lot of hate."

The mall's owner, Steve Kwon, denied he was responsible for the signs, but he and his son took them down after being interviewed by KPRC. Mall employees told KPRC that they were frustrated when mosque attendees used the mall parking lot when attending services there, yet none took credit for the signs, either. Kwon also vowed to enlist a towing company to deal with non-patrons who use the parking lot during services.

"It could be no parking for the sake of patrons that come in," another attendee, Yara Aboshady, said to KPRC. "Or it really could be a prejudice and just a mean thing to say."
