Husband of Georgia human trafficking prosecutor found shot to death

The husband of Georgia Assistant Attorney General Camila Wright was shot to death in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Atlanta.

According to Atlanta's NBC Channel 11, Shahriar Zolfaghari, 36, was found slumped over the wheel of his car when police responded to a 1:15 a.m. report of an unresponsive driver at the intersection of Rankin Street and Boulevard NE.

When police pulled Zolfaghari from the vehicle, they found that he had been shot multiple times. Paramedics rushed him to Grady Memorial Hospital, but he died during surgery.

Wright was hired in November 2014 by Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens to investigate and prosecute sex trafficking cases.

Atlanta is one of the largest human trafficking hubs in the country.

"In Georgia, we know there's a range from 200-300 girls that are trafficked each month in our city. And tonight there will be 100 girls that will be exploited in metro Atlanta," said Mary Frances Bowley of anti-trafficking nonprofit Wellspring Living in 2014. "So the numbers are huge."
