The Roosevelt Memorial Association was established in 1919 for the purpose of collecting as much information on Theodore Roosevelt as possible. Although Theodore Roosevelt was not the first U.S. president to appear on film, he was one of the most documented. After serving a first term, Roosevelt traveled across the country campaigning for the Progressive Party in the 1912 election.
On August 31, 1912, Roosevelt gave a speech in Barre, Vermont. "We stand for a living wage," Roosevelt announced. "Wages are subnormal if they fail to provide a living for those who devote their time and energy to industrial occupation."
The 1912 primaries represented the first extensive use of the presidential primary, a reform achievement of the progressive movement.
