An Illinois man with a felony conviction on his record has been taken into custody after he was accused of handing a 12-year-old child a gun and requesting he shoot him, reports CBS Chicago.
According to the Round Lake Park Police Department, Armond M. Meyers, 43 is being held over the incident in July after authorities were contacted by the Department of Child and Family Services.
In a statement, police said, Meyers, “placed a handgun in a 12-year-old child’s hand, holding the weapon to his head and instructing the child to pull the trigger."
Investigators who went to Meyers' home recovered a handgun, a rifle, an shotgun and numerous rounds of ammunition.
The Illinois man has been charged with four counts of unlawful use of a weapon, one count of possession of a firearm ammunition by a felon, one count of possession of a firearm without a FOID card and one count of child endangerment.
He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
