Indiana man killed by his pit bull on Christmas Day

A 40-year-old man was mauled to death on Christmas Day by a pit bull he'd had since the dog was a puppy.

According to Fox 6 News, Eddie Cahill of Portage, Indiana was found dead of multiple bite wounds when his wife Bianca Rodriguez returned home on Thursday after spending part of Christmas Day with relatives.

The couple's dog, Fat Boy, was found with blood on his muzzle. The dog had reportedly been acting aggressive in recent weeks.

Rodriguez called police and animal control, who subdued the pet so that they could take possession of Cahill's body and piece together what happened.

At the family's request, Fat Boy was euthanized on Friday, Dec. 26.
