Ingraham: Principal who banned 'God Bless the USA' is part of 'angry left'

Conservative fireband Laura Ingraham labeled controversial black principal Greta Hawkins, who barred "God Bless the USA" from her school's kindergarden graduation in Brooklyn, New York, as a member of the "angry left" Tuesday morning.

"Look, this principal represents the angry left in the United States," Ingraham said. "She was out there saying a short time of go, 'Well, it used to be the principals of this school system were all white and Jewish. And there is a new game in town and are a lot more like me like me coming.'"

While discussing Hawkins being a Jehovah Witness as possibly influencing her decision, Ingraham went on to say that multicultural and patriotism in America were "very interesting experiments" that do "not work."

Despite Ingraham's choice to label Hawkins as "far left," the under-fire principal being a liberal is very questionable, especially with the teachers' union viewing her as a target, according to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Department of Education (DOE).

A DOE said that Hawkins allowed "God Bless the USA" to be sung at a fifth grade graduation last year, as well as a recital of the "Pledge of Allegiance" and the song "America the Beautiful." Hawkins has indicated that she doesn't want "God Bless the USA" sung at the kindergarden graduation this June because the song is not age-appropriate.

Hawkins has received racist hate mail for her decision.
