An Iowa man was arrested after police said that he used racial slurs and sprayed diesel fuel on a black man.
According to The Daily Nonpareil, 49-year-old Cleo Henry of Jonesboro, Arkansas told police that he was confronted by 62-year-old John Moyer when he stopped at Cubby’s gas station on Dec. 16.
Henry recalled that he parked at the fuel pumps, where he was approached by Moyer. Henry said that Moyer, who is white, began arguing with him and used at least one racial slur.
Moyer sprayed Henry with diesel fuel and then fled the scene, the victim said.
An investigation by the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office identified Moyer as the assailant. Moyer was taken into custody on suspicion of assault causing bodily injury in violation of individual rights.
Moyer was released from the Fremont County Jail after posting a $2,000 cash-only bond.
