Iowa man who hurled racist slurs at school girls says black women ‘trigger’ his PTSD

An Iowa man accused of slinging threats and racial epithets at a group of African-American school girls had a bizarre explanation for authorities -- he said black women and girls trigger his Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, the Dubuque Telegraph Herald reports.

Patrick Tomkins, 43, has been charged with disorderly conduct after police were called to an elementary school on Saturday. Several girls were on the school playground and told authorities that Tomkins began berating them with racial slurs and grabbing himself. He also asked the children if they "wanted to fight."

When police spoke with Tomkins, he admitted he told the girls to "get out of my (expletive) school and to get out of my (expletive) town," the Herald reports. He admitted the accusations.
