Trump calls on his war Cabinet to discuss possible course of action in Iran

President Donald Trump met Monday with top national security officials to discuss potential next steps in the U.S. war against Iran, according to three U.S. officials.

The United States and Iran have maintained a ceasefire since early April, though Trump called it "unbelievably weak" as both nations continue exchanging attacks.

The Trump administration sent Tehran a draft proposal last week -- only to be rejected by Sunday. Trump acknowledged not reading it all the way through.

Two officials told Axios that Trump is leaning toward resuming military action against Iran to increase pressure on the regime and force nuclear concessions, with one official stating, "He will tune them up a bit."

Attendees included Vice President Vance, Secretary of State Rubio, Secretary of Defense Hegseth, Joint Chiefs chairman General Dan Caine, and CIA director John Ratcliffe.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Sunday statement regarding the U.S. and Israeli war aligns with Trump's speculated preference for resuming attacks. In the televised interview, Netanyahu said the war against Iran was "not yet over," adding, “military forces may need to continue the battle on the ground.”
