'It’s pathetic’: GOP senator fumes after another House Republican blocks disaster relief bill

Georgia Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) unleashed on Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) who stopped a disaster relief package that would help his own state from passing Congress.

The first vote happened before the Memorial Day weekend, and Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) stopped the passage of the bill then. When Congress came back from the break Tuesday, it was Massie that stepped up to stop the help.

"This is yet another example of politicians putting their own self-interest ahead of the national interest," said Perdue in a Tuesday tweet. "It’s pathetic that some members have chosen this moment to grandstand & get into the national headlines."

Roy once worked for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who famously refused to support disaster relief after Hurricane Sandy. Oddly enough, however, Cruz voted to pass the disaster relief package that would help his home state this time around. It's unclear why Massie is so against the assistance.
