Ivanka Trump's bid to duck a subpoena calling her to appear as a witness in the $250 million financial fraud trial being conducted in Manhattan in Judge Arthur Engoron's courtroom has failed.
According to a report from ABC News, Donald Trump's oldest daughter must appear. However Judge Engoron is giving her time to file an appeal.
“I want to see her in person. That is how we prefer testimony,” Engoron told the courtroom as he handed down his ruling.
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?
With Ivanka's lawyer protesting the decision as "a bridge too far," ABC is reporting, "State attorney Kevin Wallace defended the subpoenas by arguing Ivanka Trump was a former Trump Organization executive who was the main contact with lenders for Trump’s Washington D.C. Old Post Office hotel. Wallace added that Ivanka Trump still owns properties in New York and operates business here."
The report notes that Engoron overruled protestations she shouldn't have to appear because she is now a resident of Florida.
“Ms. Trump owns property in New York and has done business in New York,” he explained.
