Ivanka's business gets approved for 16 new Chinese trademarks — three months after she said it was shutting down

Ivanka Trump's business was recently awarded 16 new Chinese trademarks — three months after she claimed the brand was shutting down.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington revealed Monday that these trademarks "mark the largest number of new Chinese trademarks she has received in a single month since President Donald Trump took office."

In late July, the First Daughter announced the closure of her fashion brand and cited her official duties as an adviser to the president as a reason.

According to public records reviewed by CREW, however, the brand will "continue to seek trademarks."

The report noted that the eldest Trump daughter's Chinese trademarks have raised ethical concerns multiple times, including in May of this year when she received approval for several other trademarks a week before the president "announced that he wanted to lift the ban on the Chinese company ZTE, for violating US sanctions."

"In 2017, the business received three new Chinese trademarks on the same day she dined with Chinese President Xi Jinping," CREW noted.
