'Written in crayon?' The View readies for Trump 'humiliation' over 'bare bones' Comey case

The co-hosts of "The View" on Monday needled the Justice Department's recent effort to indict former FBI Director James Comey with a specially-hired prosecutor with little experience.
The news broke Thursday that Comey had been indicted over accusations that he lied to Congress, but the women of "The View" had their own speculations about the case.
"I will say this, having looked at the indictment, the two-page indictment in federal court, I was wondering what this would look like because generally when you as a prosecutor go into the grand jury and you get an indictment, especially an indictment based on a false statement or what we call kind of a criminal lie, it's very exacting, very robust and very detailed.
"This is the opposite of that," said Sunny Hostin, a former federal prosecutor and legal analyst.
"Written in crayon?" quipped Whoopi Goldberg.
"It's basically one and a half pages," Hostin said. "It's [a] bare bones indictment, and what is very telling is that no career assistant United States attorney presented this case to the grand jury. The person who presented this case was the insurance lawyer who is now the U.S. attorney of the Eastern District [of Virginia] and has never prosecuted a case in her life. So, she's the one who presented it to the grand jury and she is the one who signed the indictment. And that says a lot, that no prosecutor in the Eastern District, which is a very well-regarded office, signed it."
She also agreed with other expectations that Comey could claim it's a vindictive or selective prosecution and have it dismissed right away.
Goldberg wondered if it would be considered a frivolous lawsuit, but Hostin wasn't certain.
"I don't know if it's frivolous or not because there are no details in it. A case can be dismissed if it is vindictive or selective prosecution, and the president put on his — what's his thing?" Hostin asked about his social media site, Truth Social. "He has put out thereyou need to get this person, youneed to indict, to the attorneygeneral.
"I think it's going to be very simple to go into a court and say to the judge, 'This is a vindictive prosecution and please dismiss it.' And then it gets dismissed. This could end in humiliation for the Department of Justice.'
