'So that is not true': MSNBC cuts JD Vance's audio as he pushes GOP lie
On Wednesday afternoon, MSNBC cut the audio as Vice President JD Vance spoke from the James Brady Briefing Room to call him out as a liar.
As Vance attempted to place the blame for the government shutdown on Democrats despite Republican control of both chambers of Congress and the White House, he fell back on the GOP talking point that Democrats want to hand out free healthcare to undocumented immigrants, which is against the law.
As Vance harangued the White House reporters, the audio was cut, and MSNBC host Chris Jansing exclaimed, “So that is not true.”
“So let me tell you several points that are true,” she continued, “The Democratic proposed continuing resolution does not provide free health care to undocumented immigrants, nor are Democrats advocating for that.”
“But even beyond that, undocumented immigrants cannot buy health care plans on the ACA exchange,” she elaborated. “Therefore, they cannot benefit from the subsidies that the Democrats are talking about. In addition to that, they cannot enroll in Medicare, Medicaid, or CHIP, the Children's Health Insurance Program.“
“It is important to note providing free health care to undocumented immigrants is against federal law,” she said, correcting Vance. “For the most part, undocumented immigrants are barred from using federally funded health care programs.”
