Sources speaking to The New York Post say that if Warner Bros. Discovery decides to sell CNN in the coming year, the network’s former CEO Jeff Zucker is among those who want to purchase it.
Insiders say Zucker is among the prospective buyers despite being ousted from the network over a year ago after he was revealed as having an affair with a colleague.
"Sources say Zucker sees a big opportunity at CNN ahead of the 2024 presidential election after ex-CEO Chris Licht’s strategy to revamp the network’s programming to appeal to a more centrist audience flopped, sending ratings and ad revenue tumbling," The Post's report stated.
Sources say Zucker would see an acquisition of the network as the “ultimate revenge” for his ouster.
It's still not known if Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav plans to put the network up for sale.
