President Donald Trump made an unprecedented announcement Friday that he would be asking his attorney general to launch an investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s ties with former President Bill Clinton, former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers and other prominent Democratic figures.
“Now that the Democrats are using the Epstein Hoax, involving Democrats, not Republicans, to try and deflect from their disastrous SHUTDOWN, and all of their other failures, I will be asking A.G. Pam Bondi, and the Department of Justice, together with our great patriots at the FBI, to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s involvement and relationship with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, J.P. Morgan, Chase, and many other people and institutions, to determine what was going on with them, and him,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.
“This is another Russia, Russia, Russia Scam, with all arrows pointing to the Democrats. Records show that these men, and many others, spent large portions of their life with Epstein, and on his ‘Island.’ Stay tuned!!!”
Trump was making reference to Epstein’s private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Little Saint James island, which FBI agents swarmed in 2019 following Epstein’s death in prison while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges.
Trump has faced renewed scrutiny over his past ties with Epstein – who once called Trump his “best friend for 10 years” – after the House Oversight Committee released a trove of documents from Epstein’s estate this week. Among the revelations in the release are that Trump may have “spent hours” with one of Epstein’s victims at Epstein’s home. Trump has also flown on Epstein’s private jet at least seven times in the 1990s, with allegations having been made that “underaged sex parties” were held on the jet.
