MS NOW's Jen Psaki kicked off Thursday night's edition of "The Briefing" by ruthlessly mocking the House GOP's latest rebranding attempt to try to stave off defeat in November.
"It seemslike little Mike Johnson hasfinally, finally settled on hispitch for the midterms," said Psaki. "He hasmanaged to boil it all down toone simple message."
"House Republicans continueto deliver for the Americanpeople," said Johnson in a clip. "We will continue to dothat for the remainder of theyear, and that is a largereason why we are going to winthe midterms, so that the grown-ups can stay in charge here."
"They have full-on TrumpDerangement Syndrome, okay?" he said in a second clip. "Andit informs how they see theworld and how they react andhow irresponsible they are nowis on full display for thewhole country. I hope votersremember this in the fall. Yougot to keep the grown-ups incharge. And that's theRepublicans."
"Does that make Mike Johnsonthe grown-up?" laughed Psaki. "Like if you're agrown-up, you don't have aspine? That's how it goes these days. Who knows? But that'stheir message du jour ofthis week. Well, today, the 79-year-old man-child in charge ofall of those little grown-upswas on Truth Social, braggingabout the cognitive test hepassed not once, not twice, butthree times. You know, thetests where you name theanimals drawn on a piece ofpaper. And Donald Trump mighthave felt the need to bragabout acing those tests, because lots of people noticedthat he can't even keep his warstraight right now." She played a clip of Trump.
"I think Ukraine, militarily, they're defeated," said Trump. "Okay, youwouldn't know that by readingthe fake news, but militarily, look, their navy, so they had159 ships. Every ship is rightnow underwater. They have nonavy, no air force, noanti-aircraft apparatus otherthan what they may have putthere — they may have brought insome light stuff during theceasefire."
"Ukraine is defeated," said Psaki. "That'swhat he said. All their shipsare underwater. Think you meanIran? Their pal Iran. See, Donald Trump doesn't even knowwhich war he's talking about."
"So I'm going to put this interms I think he can probablyunderstand," said Psaki. "Donald Trumpstarted a war with Iran. Thatwar with Iran has made theprice of gas go up. And gas isthe thing that makes cars gozoom. Got it? And thanks to thewar Trump started with Iran,Americans have spent the lasttwo months watching the priceat the pump climb higher and higher."
