WATCH: Jim Jordan gets slapped down after using forced arbitration hearing to lob ‘spurious’ attacks against Merrick Garland
During a House Judiciary Committee hearing on the Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act of 2021, Ohio GOP Rep. Jim Jordan used his opening remarks to turn the focus to Attorney General Merrick Garland, citing his recent testimony before Congress where he said that he can't recall any circumstances where parents who speak out at school board meetings were labeled "domestic terrorists."
Jordan went on to claim that the day before Garland's testimony, an "email sent to FBI agents" said "just the opposite." Jordan included other alleged examples of the FBI labeling parents with "a threat tag" who "objected to a racist, hate America curriculum."
Jordan later said that while the Committee will discuss the matter at hand, they'll also discuss his concerns about the Justice Department's alleged treatment of parents who speak out against Critical Race Theory, an issue he said should be "of paramount concern to this committee."
When it was New York Democratic Rep. Mondaire Jones' turn to speak, he took a moment at the end of his remarks to address Jordan.

"We've seen a lot of low behavior in this committee this year, but very few things compare to distracting from the very harrowing experiences shared with us yesterday and the important work we're doing to make sure that doesn't happen again," Jones said. "By leveling spurious allegations against the Attorney General of the United States -- I think the people on this committee are all better than that and I would encourage us to be focused on this important issue."
The Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act of 2021, which has bipartisan support, seeks to ensure that survivors of sexual assault and harassment can choose to bring a case in court instead of being forced into secret arbitration proceedings
