Would-be House speaker Jim Jordan delivered 'constant disinformation up until January 6th': analysis

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), a leading contender to be the next speaker of the House of Representatives, was also a ringleader in former President Donald Trump's efforts to illegally remain in power after losing the 2020 election, according to a CNN analysis.

The detailed report shows Jordan called on Trump to not concede in the wake of his 2020 loss, promoted assorted debunked conspiracy theories about the election being stolen, and even pushed a fringe legal theory about how then-Vice President Mike Pence could unilaterally declare Trump the winner.

Included among the many conspiracy theories pushed by Jordan were false claims about Georgia election workers Shaye Moss and Ruby Freeman that recently resulted in a successful defamation suit leveled against former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani; false claims about Democrats barring Republican poll workers in Pennsylvania; and bogus claims about dead people being registered to vote in multiple states.

"Jordan’s appearances on right-wing and far right-wing news outlets and his social media account were a near constant drumbeat of disinformation up until January 6th,” Ryan Goodman, a law professor at New York University, tells CNN.

Jordan's fealty to Trump's lies about the 2020 election was rewarded last week when Trump gave him his endorsement to be the GOP's next speaker.
