GOP lawmakers are 'squirming' and 'hiding under their beds' over new Trump act: ex-insider

A former Tea Party Republican congressman on Sunday said his prior colleagues are "squirming" because Donald Trump just made another choice that is going to make the 2026 elections more difficult for the GOP.

Appearing on MS NOW, Joe Walsh was prompted by a host who said, "Trump wants to builda 250 foot tall arch dwarfingthe Lincoln memorial. Theplanned Independence Arch isintended to commemorate the United States' 250th anniversary.Built to Trump's specifications,it would transform a small plotof land between the Lincolnmemorial and Arlington nationalcemetery into a dominant newmonument, reshaping therelationship between the twomemorials and obstructingpedestrian views."

Host Jonathan Capehart said, "Assomeone who walks over Memorial Bridge and I know that circlevery well, you know the wholething about pedestrian viewsmight seem like, you know,superficial, but that's adramatic view. Looking backinto Washington from thatcircle. And he's going to putthis Caesar's Palace in LasVegas sized arch," before asking, "But Joe. Why?"

Walsh replied, "Who knows. And I don't evenwant to figure out why. Butmore importantly for us, thesound you hear is all my Republican colleagues, myformer Republican colleaguesjust squirming right now andrunning to hide under theirbeds because he continues to dothings like this, which areutterly going to destroy themin November."
