Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) was the first Democratic senator to call for Sen. Bob Menendez's (D-NJ) resignation in the wake of his federal indictment on allegations revolving around a bribery scheme.
Now Menendez is preparing to address his Democratic colleagues on Thursday -- and Fetterman says he wants no part of it.
"Unless Senator Menendez is coming today to resign, I am not interested in hearing his 'explanation' for gold bars stashed in a mattress," Fetterman wrote on Twitter. "We’re past the point of his tough talk and defiance, given the scope and scale of his alleged corruption."
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?
So far, over half of the members of the Democratic Senate caucus have called for Menendez's resignation, including fellow New Jersey Democrat Cory Booker, who defended Menendez when he was indicted the first time in 2015.
Very few Republicans have so far called for Menendez's resignation, however, and current Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump currently faces indictments on 91 felony counts in four different jurisdictions.
Menendez has denied any wrongdoing and has vowed not to resign despite pressure from his own colleagues to do so.
