John Oliver forced to agree with Rex Tillerson: 'Our president is a f*cking moron'

On Sunday's edition of "Last Week Tonight," host John Oliver did his best to recap a week that he said was "both hectic and depressing," between the Las Vegas massacre, the president's embarrassing antics around the situation in Puerto Rico and the rollback of the Affordable Healthcare Act's birth control mandate.

No story, Oliver said, exemplifies that aggressive wrongness of the last week, like the kerfuffle about NBC reporting that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called President Donald Trump a "moron" after a meeting at the Pentagon.

"Now, to be fair, the State Department denied that report," Oliver said, "which actually prompted NBC to issue a crucial clarification. Tillerson actually called him a 'f*cking moron.'"

"I mean, I guess this is just the type of discussion we now have on TV," he marveled. "Did the secretary of state call the president a moron or a f*cking moron, because if it's just moron, he's a moderate."

Oliver pointed to Trump's vague and portentous remark about being in "the calm before the storm" at a dinner with military leaders this week and the alarm this had inspired in Americans an others around the world.

"What are you talking about?" Oliver said. "For a start, no moment in the preceding nine months has been even remotely calm."

"Who knows what that means?" he continued. An attack on Korea? The death of the Iran nuclear deal?

"Or it could mean nothing at all, because -- and I'm quoting the secretary of state, here, I cannot emphasize this enough," said Oliver. "These are his words, not mine. It is vulgar and I, frankly, do not approve of this type of language -- our president is a f*cking moron."
