Two months after the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, two FBI agents knocked on former Biden campaign staffer John Richter's door to ask him questions about storming the Capitol.
They had the wrong John Richter, NBC News reported.
The agents asked Richter where he had been on Jan. 5 between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., to which he replied that he had no idea.

“It was a violent insurrection, like, five blocks from my house. I worked there for 8.5 years, I have friends that were trapped in their office, of course I remember Jan. 6,” he said. “I don’t remember Jan. 5.”
The agents then showed him now-infamous photos of a hooded person in tennis shoes who was captured on security image with alleged pipe bombs, which Richter said he immediately recognized from news reports. He was asked if he knew who the bomber was, to which he replied no.

"Richter had no idea why the FBI would question someone who worked in Democratic politics for 15 years about leaving bombs near the Capitol to stop the electoral college certification," NBC News' report stated. "Did his Pennsylvania phone number pop up on some cell phone list? There certainly were plenty of Pennsylvanians who’d stormed the Capitol."
Two years after paying Richter a visit, they arrested the right John Richter, who is accused of entering the Capitol on Jan. 6 after other rioters broke windows.
