Jon Stewart levels with Hillary Clinton: Nobody cares about your book -- are you running?

Daily Show host Jon Stewart offered a rather pragmatic appraisal of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's new memoir to begin their interview on Tuesday night.

"It's an incredibly, I think, complex and well-reasoned eyewitness view to the history of those four years [in office]," Stewart told Clinton. "And I think I speak for everybody when I say, no one cares, they just want to know if you're running for president."

Clinton, the presumptive favorite if she runs for the Democratic Party's nomination in the 2016 campaign, parried.

"I was going to make an announcement," she responded. "But you kind of spoiled it for me."

"So that's a yes," Stewart pressed.

"I'm just gonna have to reconsider where I go do it," Clinton said.

Undeterred, Stewart gave Clinton a "career aptitude test" with a particular slant.

"Do you enjoy constant, non-stop criticism?" he asked.

"'Enjoy' is probably the wrong word," she said. "Expect. Survive. Live through. It just sort of comes with the territory."

"It sounds to me, if I may, like you've just declared for president," Stewart said, drawing a laugh from Clinton.
