Harris may have discovered 'playbook' for 3-month presidential campaign: GOP strategist

In an op-ed published by MSNBC Tuesday, Republican strategist Susan Del Percio argues that although there's no official "playbook for a three-month presidential campaign," Vice President Kamala Harrismay have it figured out what it takes.

"While I don't know what it's like inside the Harris headquarters any more than the next pundit," Del Percio writes, "the way the campaign has gone so far gives me confidence in how things are going there."

In fact, GOP pollster Frank Luntz on Tuesday said on CNBC's "Squawk Box" that the 2024 Democratic nominee "is taking pages out of the Republican playbook," crediting "Harris for what he called her 'important use of language.'"

Noting that the vice president's assertion that she's a capitalist and that the Democratic Party is now the party of freedom, Luntz said, "If you just listen to these general statements, she actually sounds like a moderate Republican."

Del Percio, on the other hand, notes, "Since she joined the race at the end of July, Harris has raised record amounts of money, including enough to help Democrats down-ballot; whuppedDonald Trump in their only debate; picked up endorsements from some notable Republicans; developed a great volunteer network and expanded the substantial ground operation she inherited from President Joe Biden."

While all of "that may not be enough," the NBC News analyst submits, the Harris campaign "has behind-the-scenes efforts to reach out to supporters by email, text message, social media, phone calls and knocking on doors. And it has millions of dollars in ads rolling out daily."

CNBC reports that a New York Times/Siena College poll published Tuesday found "Harris leading Trump nationally for the first time since President Joe Biden dropped out of the election as the presumptive Democratic nominee in mid-July."
