Kansas City mom an online hit after telling off 'prissy twit' trying to bodyshame her

A Kansas City woman has garnered attention online after sharing her story of rebuffing a person's attempt to make her self-conscious about her body, KTRK-TV reported.

Lexi Sinclair's Aug. 2 post recounting the encounter has been shared more than 25,000 times on Facebook since going online. Sinclair said she was with her four-month-old son at a swimming pool when she was approached by a woman she described as being "maybe [in her] mid 50s."

After asking about her son, Sinclair recalled, the woman told her "that the men at the pool would feel more comfortable if [she] was in a one-piece swim suit because a bikini isn't appropriate for a mother, especially one who's 'still recovering.'"

Instead of delivering a more forceful response, she wrote, Sinclair kissed her son then told the woman:

I'm proud of my body. In just one year I've gained 50 pounds, and lost 37. I've grown a human and given birth to a beautiful miracle. My body provided food for my child. So, no, my body might not be the best sight for other men to see. My stretch marks and tummy pudge might not be sexy. But they're proof that I've done something amazing, and I have a man that loves me and finds me even sexier and more beautiful now. To be honest, I don't give a tiny rats ass what other men, or a prissy twit like you think. Have a nice day though.

The post was accompanied by a picture of herself holding her child while wearing the two-piece swimsuit that inspired the other woman's rude observation.

Sinclair's story brought not only compliments from other Facebook users, but coverage from British publications like The Sun and The Telegraph.

"Some people have told me, I should be prepared for the body shaming because it is disgusting," she told KTRK. "[However] I've gotten thousands of women telling me how much I've inspired them, which is awesome because all I was trying to do was share my experience with my friends and family and it ended up going way beyond that."
