New campaign finance data is shedding light on the 2024 candidates who are underwater.
Failed Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake is seeking the U.S. Senate seat in Arizona, but her campaign is already over $300,000 in debt, according to Federal Election Commission filings.
The Arizona Republic reported her first quarter since announcing her campaign lost more money than it brought in.
"Lake’s campaign released her fundraising totals earlier last month and noted she was among the best-funded Republican challengers running this cycle," said the report. She neglected to mention she had a massive debt to five companies she has used to raise money.
"The debt isn't late, but it does make her $1 million in cash seem smaller on closer inspection," the Republican explained.

They noted that lower-dollar donors have built Lake's campaign — those giving under $200 account for about 44 percent of her donations.
But Lake is now marred by a scandal after she secretly recorded the former chair of the Arizona Republican Party begging her to get out of the race so they'd have a chance at winning back the seat.
