Keith Olbermann blasts wimpy mainstream media for sticking to the rules while Trump laughs in their face

In Vladamir Putin's Russia, any trace of representative government is dead, Keith Olbermann said in his recent installment of "The Resistance." With that death also came the deaths of reporters who questioned him and political opponents. All the while, President Donald Trump laughed at Putin's comments about reporters.

"Trump laughs at reporters while seated next to a dictator in whose country reporters are regularly murdered," Olbermann notes. "Back home, one television network with 'news' in its name goes almost wall to wall calling CNN 'fake news.'"

He blasted "other networks" that Trump supporters would never watch for hiring more conservative pundits in attempts to appeal to those viewers it will never win over. Olbermann was obviously blasting his old network MSNBC, who has hired former Fox News host, Greta Van Susteren and Republican commentator, Nicolle Wallace. Van Susteren ultimately didn't work out, but ratings for the progressive evening hosts have soared in the months that followed Trump's inauguration.

Olbermann points that this is the all to support a man who attacks the network as being "fake news."

After the G-20 meeting, Trump returned to the U.S. only to go after the media again, with attacks from him and his children on CNN. He then "personally approved a statements" by his son denying a meeting with Russians only to then be forced to issue an entirely new release the following day because it was a lie.

"A statement that was disproved so quickly they had to issue another statement the next damn day," Olberman blasted.

According to him, the media sticks to the rolls while Trump laughs in their face.

"The media seems to stick to some fanciful, noble but stupid conception of balance," he continued. "While Trump reportedly tells the FBI director that he should consider putting reporters in prison."

The media continues to report the lies of Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Paul Manafort, Jared Kushner and the rest of the lies "within lies, within lies" instead of "boycotting these people outright because the vital distinction has been erased between facts... and truth."

He argued that every word out of their mouths is designed to put another hole in the First Amendment and the media shouldn't let them do it.
