Kellyanne Conway got marching orders from Trump before suggesting people vote for Roy Moore: CNN source

White House counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway reportedly spoke with President Donald Trump about the Alabama Senate race before she suggested that voters should cast their ballots for Republican candidate Roy Moore, who has been accused of sexually abusing girls as young as 14.

During a Monday appearance on Fox & Friends, Conway made it clear that the White House preferred Moore over Democratic candidate Doug Jones because he is expected to vote for the president's tax bill.

“So vote Roy Moore?” Fox News host Brian Kilmeade queried Conway on Monday.

"I’m telling you that we want the votes in the Senate to get this tax bill through,” she replied.

But in an earlier interview on Fox News, Conway had discouraged people from voting for Moore by insisting "that there is no Senate seat worth more than a child."

CNN contributor Kaitlan Collins reported on Tuesday that President Donald Trump may have encouraged Conway not to disparage Moore before she went on air on Monday.

"I’m told Kellyanne Conway spoke with Trump about the Alabama Senate race before she went on Fox yesterday," Collins revealed.
