Kellyanne Conway's husband completely blows up Trump's biggest lie about the border 'crisis'

President Donald Trump is expected to once again hype up the supposed "crisis" at America's southern border during his State of the Union address on Tuesday, but the spouse of one of his top advisers is already shooting down the president's biggest lies about what's really happening with illegal border crossings.

On Tuesday morning, the president tweeted out that the United States needs a border wall to prevent "tremendous numbers of people" who are "coming up through Mexico in the hopes of flooding our Southern Border."

George Conway, the husband of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, responded to say that illegal border crossings are actually way down from the historic peaks they've reached in past decades.

"According to [U.S. Customs and Border Protection], total southwest border apprehensions of illegal aliens in FY2017 was 303,916—the lowest since 1971," Conway wrote. "The figure went up to 396,579 in FY2018 -- but that’s still lower than the numbers for 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014, and 2016."

In fact, the CPB says that illegal crossings at the Southwest border peaked at over 1.6 million in 2000 before going on a steady decline for the past two decades.

Over both the final years of the Obama administration and the first two years of the Trump administration, border crossings have fallen to levels not seen since 1972.
