Kellyanne Conway's husband torches Trump by noting Romney beat his popular vote percentage in 2012

President Donald Trump on Wednesday hit back at incoming Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) over his scathing op-ed written for the Washington Post in which he called out Trump's lack of moral character.

In particular, Trump taunted Romney for losing the presidential election to Barack Obama in 2012.

"I won big and he didn’t," the president gloated on Twitter.

But George Conway, the husband of Trump White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, shot back at Trump by noting that Romney actually did better against Obama in the popular vote than Trump did against Hillary Clinton in 2016.

"Romney got a *higher* percentage of the vote against a *much, much stronger* opponent who was (unlike you) a very popular sitting president," Conway wrote in response to Trump's tweet.

Conway has regularly been a thorn in Trump's side, despite the fact that his wife is one of the president's top defenders on cable news. Late last year, for instance, he argued that Trump's appointment of acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker was unconstitutional, and has also called out the president for his total ignorance on policy matters.
