Kerry: GOP Super Committee plan would be 'the biggest tax cuts since Great Depression'

In the buildup to a likely no deal coming out of the Super Committee, Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) expressed Sunday morning that the current top Republican plan, the proposal made by Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) plan, would be more harmful than the Bush tax cuts.

"The Toomey plan still results in the biggest tax cuts since the Great Depression," Kerry said on NBC's Meet The Press. "It would be the biggest tax cut since Calvin Coolidge, and we all know how that turned out. Now we didn't come here to do another tax cut to the wealthiest people while we're asked fixed income seniors to ante up more. People on Medicaid, who are poor, to ante up more."

Kerry is correct to point out how the Toomey and GOP plan, which would extend the Bush Tax cuts and then lower the top rate from 35 to 28 percent, would be a huge benefit to the rich at the expense to the middle and lower class.
