It's already established fact that Democrats, especially in Kansas, are not fond of Kris Kobach. But in a surprising new story from McClatchy's DC bureau, it seems some Trump administration officials are also not fans of Kobach.
“Kris is not under consideration for a Cabinet position,” a senior White House official told McClatchy this week, per their report.
Kobach was trounced last year when he ran for governor in his native Kansas, and some have speculated that he may end up in a senior White House position this year due to his friendship with Trump. But according to McClatchy, that doesn't seem to be in the cards anytime soon.
Further, McClatchy notes, some close to Trump, and maybe even Trump himself, don't even want Kobach to run for office in Kansas again.
"Behind the scenes, Trump has been huddling with White House officials and Republican operatives about the importance of Kansas race, and how to 'nudge' Kobach away from running again, said one of the Republicans familiar with those conversations," the reporters noted in their new story.
