'Traitor!': MAGA fans flip out on Lindsey Graham after 2020 election confession

An attempt to support Donald Trump by Sen. Lindsey Graham went horribly wrong for the South Carolina Republican on Sunday because he admitted he voted to certify President Joe Biden's win despite believing there were "problems" with the 2020 presidential election.

On Truth Social Sunday morning, Trump wrote, "I wasn’t campaigning, the Election was over. I was doing my duty as President to expose and further investigate a Rigged and Stolen Election. It was my obligation to do so, and the proof found is voluminous and irrefutable. Therefore, among other reasons, of course I am entitled to IMMUNITY. ADDITIONALLY, I DID NOTHING WRONG. Stop the Witch Hunt NOW!"

On X, formerly known as Twitter in better days, Graham reposted a screenshot of Trump's statement and added, "There were numerous legal and factual concerns about the 2020 presidential election. As the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, along with many others, I expressed concerns and investigated different allegations. The president has the right and duty, just like others involved in the process, to challenge the results. While I voted to certify the 2020 election, there were problems. It is very unnerving to see the justice system try to criminalize a president for questioning and challenging an election."

While Graham was obviously attempting to be supportive, his admission, "While I voted to certify the 2020 election, there were problems," set off an avalanche of rage by fans of the former president with one calling Graham: "Traitor!"

According to David Giglio, who is running to fill Rep. Kevin McCarthy's seat now that the California Republican is stepping aside, "Why would you vote to certify an election when you believed 'there were problems?' Look at the damage a stolen election has caused for our nation and the world. You own that."

"Lindsey Graham ladies and gentlemen, a flip-flopping tower of jello. Disgusting," Jack Grodeska chipped in.

Trump supporter Liz Churchill raged, "GTFO Lindsey. You’re an Assh*le and a Traitor for certifying a fraudulent election. You and Judas Pence knew exactly what you were doing."

"'While I voted to certify the 2020 election, there were problems.' What the hell kind of 'representative' are you? You should be primaried, and you should be investigated for certifying an election you understood was problematic! Holy crap," accused PA VOTER (Marla).

Perry Joslin wrote, "You’re the most two faced person to exist."

"He voted to certify because he’s a little coward who believes nothing," the Libertarian Extremist accused.

Pamela wrote, "You all did absolutely nothing!!! Where were you when observers were being locked out? What did any of you do about the tons of videos showing cheating?"

Joao Thomazini added, "You are a disgrace."

Daniel, who goes by @MiamiFarmer, saw Graham's vote as part of a grander conspiracy by writing, "This is going to blow up in your face, especially now that we know there are DNC senate sex tapes that implicated you. Blackmail to certify? Not sure if you thought it was brave or what to say you certified a fraudulent election knowing there were issues… but wow."
